Mission Statement

This blog was created as a haven for the thinking sports fan. The idea was to have a location where sports fans could challenge each other and generate informed discussions about the pressing issues in sports. The posts here will (hopefully) be thought-provoking, interesting, and entertaining.

Recently, I have felt that the coverage of sports has devolved in some aspects.  Oftentimes, I find the reporting is less about covering events or discussing issues and is more about creating issues and being the event.  The idea of being contrarian just for the sake of being contrarian makes me physically sick.  This blog is the anti-First Take.  There will be no faux-debates on this website.  I WILL NOT WRITE IN ALL CAPS TO MAKE MY POINT.  Meaningless statistics (like noting that Player X’s home run was the first home run hit by a middle infielder in his second year in the league against a lefty during a night game in July with the temperature over 90 degrees while playing on artificial turf since 1999) have no place here.  My postings will not be peppered with trendy terms like “taking the lid off a defense” or “walk-off.”

The sport I am most passionate about is baseball and, therefore, the posts here may end up being mostly about baseball.  I ask that visitors be patient as this is my first foray into the world of blogging.    This website is a work in progress and will evolve as I evolve.

I truly hope everyone enjoys the posts on this website.  I welcome all feedback, especially critiques or counterpoints.
